Darjeeling Sadar subdivision is a subdivision of the Darjeeling district in the state of West Bengal, India. It consists of the Darjeeling municipality and three community development blocks: Darjeeling Pulbazar, Rangli Ranglot and JorebunglowSukhiapokhri. The three blocks contain one census town Pattabong Tea Garden and 50 gram panchayats. The subdivision has its headquarters at Darjeeling.

Area

Apart from Darjeeling municipality, the subdivision contains rural areas of 50 gram panchayats under three community development blocks: Darjeeling Pulbazar, Rangli Ranglot and JorebunglowSukhiapokhri.[1]

Blocks

Darjeeling Pulbazar block

Darjeeling Pulbazar block consists of one census town: Pattabong Tea Garden, and rural areas with 23 gram panchayats, viz. BijanbariPulbazar, GokeII, Kaijalia, Nayanor, DarjeelingI, Singtam Soom, LodhomaI, Relling, DarjeelingII, Chungtong, LodhomaII, Rimbik, RishirhatbloomField, RangitI, Lebong ValleyI, Dabaipani, Badamtam, RangitII, Lebong ValleyII, SirikholaDaragaon, GokeI, Jhepi and Mazuwa.[1] This block has three police stations: Darjeeling (Sadar), Pulbazar and Lodhama.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Bijanbari.[3]

Jorebunglow Sukiapokhri block

Jorebunglow Sukiapokhri block consists of rural areas only with 16 gram panchayats, viz. Lower SonadaI, Rangbul, Lingia Maraybong, Upper Sonada, Lower SonadaII, Dhootria Kalej Valley, Munda Kothi, Rangbhang Gopaldhara, PokhriabongI, Permaguri Tamsang, PokhriabongII, Gorabari Margaret's Hope, Plungdung, Ghum Khasmahal, PokhriabongIII, and SukhiaSimana.[1] This block has two police stations: Jorebunglow and Sukiapokhri.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Sukhiapokhri.[3]

Rangli Rangliot block

Rangli Rangliot block consists of rural areas only with 11 gram panchayats, viz. Labdah, Maneydara, TacklingI, Takdah, Lamahatta, PubangRampuria, TacklingII, Singrimtam, Rangli, Ressep and Rongchong.[1] This block has one police station: Rangli Rangliot.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Takdah.[3] Takling Gram Panchayat is one of the active Gram Panchayats in Rangli Rangliot Block.It is serving its people efficiently for much needed services like Residence Certificate, Birth Certificate, Death Certificate, Income Certificate and Aaadhar Card.But,the people of Lower Baramangwa( Ward 5) have been sacrificing their productive time due to non-mobile office culture at farther distance.

Legislative segments

As per order of the Delimitation Commission in respect of the delimitation of constituencies in the West Bengal, the area under the Darjeeling municipality, the Darjeeling Pulbazar block and eleven gram panchayats under the Jorebunglow Sukiapokhri block, viz. Dhootria Kalej Valley, Ghum Khasmahal, SukhiaSimana, Rangbhang Gopaldhara, PokhriabongI, PokhriabongII, PokhriabongIII, Lingia Maraybong, Permaguri Tamsang, Plungdung and Rangbul will constitute the Darjeeling assembly constituency of West Bengal. The other five gram panchayats of Jorebunglow Sukiapokhri block, viz. Lower SonadaI, Upper Sonada, Lower SonadaII, Munda Kothi and Gorabari Margaret's Hope will be part of Kurseong assembly constituency, along with the area under Rangli Rangliot block. Both assembly constituencies will be part of Darjeeling Lok Sabha constituency.[4]
