Dag Detter is an investment advisor and author on public commercial assets. He is the author, with Stefan Fölster, of the book The Public Wealth of Nations : How Management of Public Assets Can Boost or Bust Economic Growth (Palgrave, 2015),[1] included in The Economist — Books of the Year 2015[2] and the Financial Times FT’s Best Books of the Year 2015.[3] This book shows that better management of public assets would increase global living standards and improve the fabric of democratic institutions across the world.[4]
Born in Malmö, Sweden (October 7, 1959) he studied Sinology and Business Administration at Lund University in Sweden. He has worked as an investment banker and advisor within the corporate, real estate and financial sector in Asia and Europe, as well as been a Non-Executive Director of a number of companies including Telia, the telecom operator, Posten, the logistics company, Svenska Kraftnät, the electricity company and Celsius, the defense contractor, as well as DTZ, the real estate services firm. As President of Stattum, the Swedish government holding company and Director at the Ministry of Industry he led the first attempt by a European government to address systematically the ownership and management of government enterprises.
He is currently an advisor to investors and governments in Europe, US and Asia, specializing in identifying and improving underperforming assets and a Fellow at the Legatum Institute.
