Connecticut Naval Militia
The Connecticut Naval Militia is one of the four classes of militia of the Armed Forces of the State of Connecticut along with the Connecticut National Guard, the Connecticut State Guard, and the Connecticut State Guard Reserve. The Governor of Connecticut is authorized to organize a naval militia as a special force for coastal protection or other appropriate naval services per Connecticut General Statutes.[1]
Membership in the Connecticut Naval Militia is limited to members of the reserve of the United States Navy and the reserve of the United States Coast Guard. Retired members of either force are also eligible to be members of the Connecticut Naval Militia.
The Connecticut Naval Militia has participated in the nation's conflicts but is currently in an inactive status with no membership.
