Cloudbric

Cloudbric is a security as a service and WAF (web application firewall) solution developed by Penta Security Systems Inc. that protects websites from SQL injection, cross-site scripting, identity theft, website defacement, and application layer DDoS attack. It utilizes a 100% core technology based on the hardware WAPPLES.[1]

In March 2016, Penta Security Systems announced the release of Cloudbric Business Edition, a fully customizable enterprise cloud WAF solution.[2]

History

In early 2015, when the idea of "accessible security to all" idea was pitched to the board members of Penta Security Systems, Cloudbric was born. It was subsequently licensed the Logic Analysis Engine technology and granted a three-month long beta period to test its services. Within six months of its launch, Cloudbric acquired 1,227 users and 75 active users. [3]

Since then, Cloudbric has entered in various partnerships with backing and support from Penta Security Systems and has acquired a worldwide customer base.

In May 2016, Cloudbric joined forces with U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and cosponsored their initiative to help celebrate National Small Business Week. [4]

In July 2016, Penta Security Systems partnered with GamaSec, an Israeli-based vulnerability scanning expert, to enhance their existing vulnerability scanning platform by enlisting the web security services of Cloudbric. [5]

In October 2016, Cloudbric became a second-consecutive-year champion for National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM), a collaborative effort between the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance to promote online safety awareness during the month of October. [6]

On October 20, 2016, Penta Security System’s CEO commented on the success of Cloudbric citing that number of accounts actively using Cloudbric recently surpassed 3,900 accounts, almost double the number of accounts from earlier in the year.[7]

Components

Cloudbric’s cost model differs from its parent hardware WAPPLES since it charges users based on website traffic rather than premium service features. Cloudbric’s WAF works by changing a website's Domain Name System (DNS) record to route the website traffic through Cloudbric and then filters out malicious attacks.

Awards and recognition

Cloudbric was named Best SME Security Solution at the 2016 SC Magazine Awards in Europe.[8]
