Cleobury Castle
Cleobury Castle was sited by the River Rea in the small town of Cleobury Mortimer in Shropshire which lies between the towns of Ludlow and Bewdley (grid reference SO681761).
Mortimer Stronghold
The castle was built in the early 12th century and owned by the Mortimer family. Hugh de Mortimer rebelled against Henry II and as a result the castle was destroyed in 1155.
Today
Only earthworks now remain.
