Christos Kostis (Greek: Χρήστος Κωστής) (born 15 January 1972 in Thessaloniki, Greece) is a former Greek international football player who played as a second striker. Christos Kostis is widely regarded to be one of the most technical players Greece has ever produced.

Club career

His career was going from good to better as he managed to rise to Iraklis' first team squad and become the club's best striker. This made AEK Athens and Olympiacos battle for his signature during the summer of 1994. Olympiakos' and Iraklis' boards agreed for the transfer and Kostis took a plane to Athens in order to sign his new contract with them. Surprisingly who he found waiting for him in the airport were AEK Athen's board as during the flight they made a better offer to Iraklis and signed him. With his new club Kostis continued his good performances featuring in the Champions League, winning 2 Greek Cups. and a Greek Super Cup. His career was cut short when he got seriously injured on 23 October 1997 after a collision with Sturm Graz's goalkeeper Kazimierz Sidorczuk during a game for the Cup Winners' Cup. Nevertheless, his until then appearances made Anderlecht sign him the following summer. He never managed to fully recover from his injury and returned to AEK Athens two years later. He played some matches but was injured again making it clear the what was to be a glorious career was practically over.

International career

He debuted for the Greek national football team on 10 March 1993 and went to score 4 times during his 15 caps.[1]
