Christa Beran
Christa Beran (born Denner) is an Austrian who was awarded the title “Righteous Among The Nations” in 1985.
Life
Christa helped Edith Hahn Beer, an Austrian Jew from Vienna obtain counterfeit “Aryan” papers in order to avoid deportation to Poland:
Christa gave Edith her certificate of baptism, her student’s identification, and her ration stamps. She reported to the police that she had lost her papers on July 29, 1942 when sailing on the Old Danube. Edith Hahn took on the identity of Christa Denner, went to Munich and survived the war in Germany working there as a forced labourer of the Plantage Mertens asparagus farm in Osterburg and the Bestehorn company in Aschersleben until she was able to marry a German and settle in Brandenburg an der Havel.
