Casey Cordray (born May 23, 1985 in Mission Viejo, California) is an American soccer player currently playing for Capital City F.C. in the Canadian Soccer League.
Career
Amateur and College
Cordray attended El Toro High School, where he helped lead the team to a first-place finish in the Sea View League and a quarter final CIF appearance his senior season. After graduating Cordray enrolled at Irvine Valley College and lead the team to back to back quarter final appearances in the state tournament.[1][2] He was a first team all Orange Empire Conference selection his freshman and sophomore seasons as well as Scholar Athlete of the year and team MVP his sophomore season. He then transferred to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where he played and started all 19 games and was named All Big West honorable mention.[3][4] Cordray then transferred to NAIA participant California Baptist University where he started and played in all 18 games for the Lancers.[5] Upon graduating from California Baptist University, Casey went on to play for the traveling team SUSA Everton, where he faced the top PDL and NPSL teams in California as well as the San Jose Earthquakes of the MLS.[6]
Professional
After trialing with teams within the USL and NASL, Cordray signed with Capital City F.C. of the Canadian Soccer League on April 20, 2011.[7] He made his debut on May 20, 2011 in the season openening defeat to Toronto Croatia.[8] He scored his first professional goal on June 24, 2011 in a 4-1 home win.[9] Cordray went on to appear 25 times for Capital City F.C.[10] and lead them all the way to the final, eventually losing in the Canadian Soccer League Championships 1-0 to Toronto Croatia.[11] Upon completion of the season he was awarded the Capital City F.C. Defender of the Year Award.[12]
