The Capt. Enoch Remick House is a historic house and farm complex at 4 Great Hill Road in Tamworth, New Hampshire. The 69-acre (28 ha) property is locally significant as one of only two remaining farms in the town, with a history dating to 1808, when the farmhouse was built by Enoch Remick. The house, a 2-1/2 story L-shaped wood frame structure, is a well-preserved local example of Federal and Greek Revival styling, and is further significant for the artwork drawn on its walls. This art was done by John Avery, one of a small number of itinerant folk artists whose identity is known. The house and most of the land have been in the Remick family since the early 19th century, and are now owned by a family foundation.[2]
The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.[1]
Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm
The house is now part of the Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm, a working historic farm that show farm practices from 1790 to the present.
The Remick Farm's other buildings include a historic farmhouse, a cattle barn, milk house, maple sugar house, stable, and a historic English barn. The farmhouse includes the living quarters and medical equipment of a country doctor and exhibits about life on the farm.
The Captain Enoch Remick House features antique furnishings including an antique toy collection. The original medical office and medicine room, used by both doctors, are preserved on the first floor.
