Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 in Dublin, Ireland. Alma Čardžić represented Bosnia and Herzegovina with the song "Goodbye". They finished in 19th place out of 25 countries with 22 points. Actually, Bosnia shared 18th place with 22 points with Germany, but later it was announced that Germany was 19th, and Bosnia was 18th, because Bosnia received 8 points (from Turkey) as the highest mark, while Germany's highest mark was only 5 points.
