Bloxwich Town F.C. is a English football club based in Bloxwich, West Midlands competing in the Midland League Division Two. The club are currently members of the Midland League Division Two and play at The Red Lion Ground.[1]
History
The original club was established in 1976 as Peel F.C., a team linked to the Sir Robert Peel pub. They initially played on the nearby King George V Memorial playing fields.[1] In 1984 they joined Division Two of the West Midlands (Regional) League, but left at the end of the 1986–87 season.[2] This information referenced is either incorrect or incomplete, as in the 1985-86 season Bloxwich were in the Midland Combination Premier Division. In 1989, Bloxwich F.C., who had been playing in the Midland Combination and had just won Division One, changed their name to Bloxwich Town.[3] The renamed club started in the Premier Division, which they won in 1995–96, earning promotion to the Midland Alliance. The following season they won the Walsall Senior Cup for the first time. In 1997–98 the club won the Midland Alliance and were promoted to Division One Midlands of the Southern League. However, they finished bottom of the table in their first season and were relegated back to the Midland Alliance.[4] At the end of the 2000–01 season the club merged with Blakenall to form Bloxwich United, taking Blakenall's place in the Western Division of the Southern League.
However, after 19 games of the 2001–02 season, the Blakenall faction pulled out of the merger and resigned the club's place in the Southern League, leading to their record being expunged. Bloxwich Town were reformed the following season and joined Division One of the Midland Combination. In 2003–04 they were promoted to the Premier Division despite only finishing seventh. However, at the end of the following season they resigned from the league and folded.[5]
The club was re-established again in 2016 and entered Division Two of the Midland League.[6]
