History
Mark Beard is a man who has always been around racing, and one of his lifelong dreams has been to build a race team and compete in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The race team's engine was built with used Hendrick Motorsports parts and with tests at various east coast tracks, including at New Hampshire Motor Speedway; time trails from the tests provided the car with enough speed to put them in a field. “We’ve been up to Motor Mile Speedway up in Virginia four or five times in the last six to eight months,” said Clay Rogers, the current driver of Beard Motorsports. “People have gone and tested Motor Mile and have typically unloaded well at Richmond." The team was on the entry list for the July race at Loudon, but withdrew their car before attempting to qualify. The team then attempted to run at Richmond International Raceway two months later;[1] however, they failed to qualify for the race. “It was tough, for sure,” Rogers said after he failed to qualify that race. Clay Rogers then moved over to BK Racing for a couple of months and was able to make it into two of the Chase for the Sprint Cup races at the September Loudon race and a race at Martinsville Speedway late in October of that year. The last time Beard Motorsports attempted to qualify for a race was at Phoenix International Raceway for the Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500, but weren't able to make the race.
