Batesville Casket Company is a manufacturer of caskets and cremation urns. The company is a subsidiary of Hillenbrand, Inc.,[1] and is headquartered in Batesville, Indiana.
In addition to Batesville, Indiana, there are factories in Batesville, Mississippi, Chihuahua, Mexico, Manchester, Tennessee, Mexico City, Mexico, and Vicksburg, Mississippi. A former outlet in Campbellsville, Kentucky, closed prior to 2000.
The company traces its roots to 1884, when John Hillenbrand began producing handmade wooden caskets. These caskets had ornate carvings made by casket and furniture companies. In 1906, Hillenbrand purchased the failing Batesville Coffin Company, and renamed it to Batesville Casket Company.
