Barry Michael Cooper is an American writer, producer and director best known for his work on the films New Jack City,[1] Above the Rim[2] and Sugar Hill.[3]
Cooper's writing began career when he penned the 1987 Village Voice article, Teddy Riley's New Jack Swing. This brought him to the attention producer Quincy Jones who hired him to rewrite a screenplay which later became the basis of New Jack City.[1]
