Baarlo, Steenwijkerland
Baarlo is a small village in the Dutch province of Overijssel. It is located in the municipality Steenwijkerland, about 1 km northwest of the city of Blokzijl.
Until the Noordoostpolder was reclaimed, the village lay on the dyke of the IJsselmeer. According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa,[1] it had about 120 inhabitants in the middle of the 19th century. It was also called "Kuinderdijk en Baarlo" then.
Baarlo should not be confused with the village with the same name in the municipality of Zwartewaterland, about 15 km to the southeast.
