Astara Television Tower (Azerbaijani: Astara televiziya qüllə), is a steel 243.9 m (800 ft) tall Azerbaijani lattice television tower located in the city of Astara, on the southeastern part of the Republic of Azerbaijan, thus the name. Possessing an antenna attached to the tower's pinnacle, which in turn, is guyed on a horizontal cross (4 cross-like steel arms) fixed on the main body of the tower, the Astara TV Tower is used for transmitting FM-/TV-broadcasting, at the same time, for mobile and/or other means of telecommunication.[1][3][4]
In terms of height, the Astara TV Tower possesses a height of approximately 200 m (656 ft) (excluding the tower's antenna and pinnacle), adding up to a total height of approximately 244 m (801 ft), to be exact, a total height of 243.84 m (800 ft), if the tower's antenna and pinnacle were to be included. In addition to this, the Astara TV Tower ranks 79th in the world's current tallest towers (see List of tallest towers in the world).[1][3][2]
History
As the city of Astara was undergoing development during the late 20th century, a multi-purpose FM-/TV-broadcasting transmitting television tower was a necessity back then. As a result, the Astara TV Tower's construction was commenced in 1981. In the same year, after several months of construction, the Astara TV Tower was completed. To sum up, the television tower served its purposes for a total of 32 years.[1][3]

Geography
The Astara TV Tower is situated in the city of Astara, which in turn, is the capital city of the rayon (district) of Astara, in the southeastern part of the Republic of Azerbaijan.[1][3]
