Aristeidis Moumoglou (Greek: Aristeidis Moumoglou, Greek pronunciation: [ari'stiðis 'mumoɣlu]; born in 1942) is a retired Greek professional basketball player. Born in Veria he played for Iraklis in the Greek Basket League and represented Greece at senior level. He played as a shooting guard.

Professional career

Moumoglou spent his entire basketball career with Iraklis. On July 13, 1972 Moumoglou set the record for most points scored in a single game in the Greek Basket League with 145 against VAO 172-94.[1][2] There is some controversy on whether the exact figure was 143 or 145 points, as the final hoop was scored after the buzzer sounded, but the figure recorded by the game officials was 145 points.[3] He was named top scorer of the Greek Basket League for the 1971-72 season scoring a total of 654 points.[2] Moumoglou also competed for the basketball team of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.[2]

International career

Moumoglou played 5 games for Greece averaging 7.4 points per game.[4]

Personal

Moumoglou, born in Veria, moved with his parents in Thessaloniki in 1953.[2] He received degrees from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in pharmacy and medicine.[2]
