Early life

Bujupi was born in Pristina, Kosovo (then part of SFR Yugoslavia) to Kosovar Albanian parents. His family moved to Germany in 1992/1993. He was raised there and attended his primer and high school in Heidelberg.

Career

2011: Deutschland sucht den Superstar

Bujupi decided to enter the eighth series of DSDS and successfully passed the first phases of the show and made it to the live shows. He was in the bottom three times but was saved by the public in all occasions. Although he became a huge favorite to win the show, he finished third, behind Sarah Engels and Pietro Lombardi who was declared as the winner.

2011-2012

Just a few months after DSDS, Ardian released his first single "This is my time", penned in English which became a huge hit on the radios and social networks, counting more than a million views over a week. He later released "Rise to the Top" and "I'm Feeling Good", all which had the same success as his first single.

He started touring immediately after releasing his first songs. He mostly toured in Germany and Switzerland, but later was invited to tour in Kosovo and Albania.

2013: Breakthrough in the Albanian music industry and Festivali i Këngës

Bujupi was invited to perform in The X Factor Albania to promote his single.[2] He later became very popular in the Albanian-speaking territories and released "Want U Now" also in Kosovo and Albania. The single was well received and was one of the most played summer songs. He toured around the Albanian-coast in summer.[3]

He entered the 51st edition of Festivali i Këngës in December 2012 for a chance to represent Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden with "I çmendur për ty" (Crazy about you).[4] This was Ardian's first song in Albanian. He was qualified for the final and was a big favorite to win the contest. He performed first in the final and ended 11th.[5]

Personal life

Bujupi has two sisters and lives with his parents in Heidelberg. He is fluent in German, English and Albanian.
