Arcot Dhanakoti Mudaliar

Rao Bahadur Dhanakoti Mudaliar or Arcot Dhanakoti Mudaliar was a Zamindar, Philanthropist, Businessman and also a powerful person at Madras Presidency in later 19th Century.[1]

Mudaliar

He was born into a rich family. Belongs to the locally dominating and largest landowning vellalar Caste. Who was ventured into Military and Railway Contracting, which grown as a Contracting Empire in Madras City. He was also a Member of Corporation for the city in 1880s. His nephew A. Thangavelu Naicker was also a contractor [2]

Philanthropy

He Bequeathed his assets to many Libraries and Educational Institutions. He made a donation to the Victoria Memorial for the purchase of books Art and these books were housed in the Connemara Public Library.[3] and also made several donations to other causes [4][5]

Other Activities

Mudaliar was a Member of Council in the Gyan Samaj, a carantic music sabha, also considered as mother of other sabhas in Madras. He Joined along with Sir Pitty Tyagaraya Chetty.[6] And He was also one of the first Executive in the council of The Victoria Technical Institute[7]
