Antebellum United States
Antebellum United States is the pre-American Civil War period of United States history between the establishment of the United States of America in 1789 to the 1860 election of Abraham Lincoln and the consequential secession of the slave states of the Southern United States, the establishment of the Confederate States of America and the April 12–14, 1861, Battle of Fort Sumter that triggered the American Civil War.
