Alin Edouard is an American quarterback for the Syracuse Orange, which represents Syracuse University.

Personal life

Alin Edouard was born and raised in Miami Florida, after his father, Edlin, flew down from Haiti in 1990.[3] He grew up with his father, his mother Jocelyne, and his two brothers, Adlin and Irlin. Alin is the second child out of 3 kids.

High school career

In high school, Edouard played for Hialeah High.[4] In his senior year, Edouard led the Hialeah Thoroughbreds to the District-13 8A Playoffs with 2,398 passing yards and 45 touchdowns, as well as 632 rushing yards, averaging 7.8 yards per carry.[3]

In February 2013, Edouard initially committed to the University of Miami Hurricanes, before decommitting from the school in September.[5][6] Edouard then announced his commitment to Syracuse University on October 20, 2013.[7][8]

In high school, Edouard was listed as a four-star dual-threat QB.[7] However, his Rivals rating is 3 stars.[9] Edouard was the second QB in Syracuse's 2014 recruiting class.[10] He was considered one of the 15 best dual threat quarterbacks nationally.[11]

College career

Edouard claimed that he wanted to be the face of the Syracuse football program by his sophomore season.[12] Edouard was recruited by George McDonald.[9] On February 5, 2014, Edouard officially signed a national letter of intent with Syracuse.[13]

Undisclosed family issues kept forced Edouard to leave the Syracuse team prior to the start of preseason practice, keeping him in Florida.[14] Additionally, Syracuse head coach, Scott Shafer stated "He and his family decided they feel it was in his best interests to enroll in school in January at the midyear."[15] Shafer voiced his support for Edouard, referencing the quarterback's upbringing, stating "When his family situation is such that he says, 'I can get back,' we'll bring him back. If that's tomorrow, great. If that's during the winter, great. Either way, he's my guy, and we're sticking by him."[16] Edouard stated his decision to enroll in the winter, rather than the fall, was to have a "fresh start."[17]
