Aldo Pancheri
Aldo Pancheri (born Trento, 20 May 1940) is an Italian painter and printmaker.[1][2]
Life
Aldo Pancheri was born in Trento, Italy on May 20, 1940. At age thirteen he had an exhibition in Trento, at the “Sala degli Specchi,” introduced by the poet Alfonso Gatto. After graduating from Trento’s Art High School, he enrolled at the School of Fine Arts of Bologna, in Virglio Guidi’s school, receiving his diploma in 1962. During those years he became friends with the painter Giorgio Azzaroni, and together they took part in the Diomira and San Fedele art awards in Milan. Pancheri won the Diomira prize and came in second for the San Fedele prize twice, repeatedly presenting his work in the latter space over the following years, either alone or in collaboration with other artists.
At the art gallery L’Argentario in Trento he came to know the painter Aldo Schmid and they shared a studio for the following year and a half. He bought a star-shaped printing press which allowed him to start his engraving activity and which he used for making a series of lithographic printings that would be exhibited a few years later at the Plazzo Sormani in Milan. Together with Schmid and Luigi Senesi, he has his first exhibition in a public space, at the Museo Civico di Palazzo Sturm in Bassano del Grappa. In the Seventies, he moved to Milan permanently, although he maintained cultural contacts and friends in his hometown. He became friends with architect Luciano Baldessari, an internationally known artist. In 1983, he had an exhibition at the gallery “Il traghetto” in Venice, and Giani de Marco became ‘his’ gallery director.
Since the 1980s, he has cooperated with the printer Giorgio Upiglio in experimental techniques using self-invented plastic components. Since 1983 he has taken part in “Avventure visive,” (an art group started together with Giorgio Azzaroni, Giancarlo Marchese e Franco Ricci) and, more consistently, at “Morfo-cromo-machia,” which regularly hosts works by Ginda Jannini, Domizio Mori e Renato Pancheri. As one of Italy’s InSEA members and under the purview of the cultural activities promoted by UNESCO, Pancheri took a sabbatical in Coventry in July, 1970, at the Künstlerhaus of Salzburg in November, 1986, and in Glurns, Italy in 1987 as a part of the cultural activities promoted by Arge-Alp.
Aldo Pancheri is currently developing a new expressive form: the 'art of timbre. He thereby uses timbric matrices which from now on any artist may freely use and invent. The signature of his timbre stresses the harmony resulting from the contrast between the coloured backgrounds and matrix lines, thus enhancing a play of cross-references, different associations and modifications which can be seen from different viewpoints. The 'art of timbre' implies a dialogue between the artists taking part at this newly born systemic vision of figurative arts.
