Acorn House College
Acorn House College is an independent, co-ed Sixth Form and GCSE College located in Southall, West London, with particular focus in the medical sciences. The College offers an education that empowers each student to unlock and reach their true potential. The small class sizes encourage constant participation from each student, therefore providing an attentive, personal approach that enables teachers to provide extra support where required, and opportunities to progress further when a student is excelling. Acorn House College has a long history of developing students to gain admission to Medical and Dentistry schools, together with other competitive Science or Maths based degrees. The College provides a start-to-finish careers advice service for all students. Coupled with proven and comprehensive programmes for university admissions, staff help each student to find out where they will flourish in their next years, through university and beyond. Staff also provide bespoke application programmes for Oxbridge, US universities, Law and Medical schools, Sciences, and Finance degrees. Acorn House College welcomes applications from national students as well as from international students who are able to demonstrate a strong academic background, English language skills and academic ambition.
History
Opened in 1999 by Gladys Watt as the West London Tutorial College, the college was renamed as Acorn Independent College in 2006, and then again as Acorn House College in 2013. The college topped the exam league tables in its first year. In 2013, the college joined the Dukes Education Group. Dukes Education is an established and forward thinking company. Dukes Education apply excellence and expertise to deliver innovative and tailored education programmes. John Wilson, a medical school entry specialist, joined the school as Principal from another high-achieving West London college. For students who like to know more about how to become a doctor or dentist, the medical sciences programme has given students a chance to think deeply about their chosen subject in an informed and considered way, so they can demonstrate their full potential at every stage of the process.
Curriculum
Acorn House College offers GCSE and A Level courses in a range of subjects as well as offering retake courses, resits for students, and specialist Medical and Oxbridge admissions courses. Students enrolling in Year 10 normally follow the conventional two years of GCSE study. The GCSE programme takes students through these initial qualifications by operating in a tutorial model focused on getting the best grades. The two year A level programme is designed for students who have completed their GCSE courses, and most students will study three A level subjects over two years.
Academic achievement
In 2014, 67% of students achieved A*-C at A Level. The percentage of students at Acorn House College achieving three or more A Levels in 2014 was the highest of all independent colleges in London (95%).[1]

Acorn House College is located at 39-47 High Street, Southall, London, UB1 3HF. Southall is a large suburban district of West London, England, and part of the London Borough of Ealing. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London.
Accreditations
The college is accredited by the International Schools Association (ISA). The Independent Schools Association is one of the oldest of the independent schools’ organisations. ISA provides professional support to its 370+ member schools and colleges. The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is the body responsible for the inspection of schools and colleges in membership of the Associations that make up the Independent Schools Council. [2]
