The A484 road is an A road in Wales connecting Swansea with Cardigan.
Route
The road begins at Cadle in Swansea and heads westwards as a southern bypass to Loughor. It continues over the Loughor bridge into Bynea, Carmarthenshire. It continues through the centre of Llanelli and traverses near the south coast of Carmarthen Bay until it reaches Pembrey. After Pembrey, the road bears northwards and continues in a northerly direction towards Carmarthen. At the junction with the A40/A48 at Pensarn, the road is severed by the new A40 bypass, with the road instead resuming at the junction with the A40/B4300. Here the road crosses the River Towy and continues through the eastern part of Carmarthen then heads north to Bronwydd Arms. It then turns to a northwest direction heading to Cynwyl Elfed and then heads northwards again. After the village of Llangeler, it turns west and continues westwards until the junction with the A487 in Cardigan.

Historical Alignment
Swansea
Prior to the Construction of the "Llanelli Link Road", the road diverged from the A483 started in Cadle at a fork, where Carmarthen Road and Pontarddulais Road diverged. The A483 continued, (as it still does) along Pontaraddulais Road, whereas the remainder of Carmarthen Road carried the start of the A484. The section of road was declassified and is in effect a residential cul-de-sac, since the original start of the road is now only open to buses. From the junction with Ystrad Road, the A484 continued along what is now the B4620 to Loughor.
Llanelli
The building of the Llanelli Link Road has also impacted significantly on the alignment of the A484 in Llanelli.
Carmarthen
Prior to the construction of the A40 Carmarthen Eastern Bypass, the A484 road, at the junction of the A40/A48 in south-east Carmarthen, continued in a northernly direction along Rhiw Babell, before reaching Heol Llangynnwr. Following the construction of the bypass, Rhiw Babell was declassified, and a part of Heol Llangynnwr from Hen Heol Llangynnwr to the new bypass was reclassified the A484. This has resulted in a 750-metre gap in the A484, where drivers are directed along the A40 trunk road.
