The 2016 AIFF Youth Cup is the first edition of the AIFF Youth Cup, that will be organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) as a preparatory tournament for the India under-17 team keeping in sight the 2016 AFC U-16 Championship and the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup. The tournament will be held from 15 May to 25 May 2016 at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco, Goa.[1] A total of five teams will participate in the tournament after being invited by the All India Football Federation.
Format
The AIFF announced that the tournament would be divided into two stages: Group stage and play-off stage. The group stage will see each team facing all others once. The top four teams of the group will qualify for the play-off stage. The top two teams will face off in the final to determine the champions, while the 3rd and 4th-ranked teams will face off in the third-place play-off.
Venue
The Tilak Maidan Stadium in Goa was announced as the venue for the tournament.[2]
