The 1966 BC Lions finished in fifth place in the West Division with a 5–11 record continuing to regress as their star players were in the twilights of their careers. Joe Kapp ended his career after the 1966 season, finishing a run of 91 straight starts and as the franchise leader in passing yards. The Lions lost many close games, including five by one or two points and placekicker Bill Mitchell kicked a woeful 11 field goals from 25 attempts.
